Wine Tour Limo Hire Auckland

A chauffeur-driven stretch limo to Kumeu, Huapai or Matakana, so nobody in your group has to drive.

A wine tour limo in Auckland starts from $1,000 for 4 hours on our sightseeing tour package, with a professional chauffeur doing the driving so nobody in your group has to. The most practical wine areas by road are Kumeu and Huapai in West Auckland and Matakana to the north. Waiheke Island is reached by ferry, so a limo cannot take you there.

Kumeu and Huapai

The Kumeu and Huapai area sits on SH16 in West Auckland, with vineyards, cellar doors and restaurants spread around Kumeu, Huapai and Waimauku. Because it is closer to the city, it often suits a 4-hour tour with a couple of stops and a long lunch. Traffic on SH16 can build at peak times, so allow extra time on the way out and back. A Kumeu tour also pairs well with a stop at Muriwai Beach on the west coast if your group wants a break from tastings, though that adds driving time.

Matakana

Matakana is north of the city, past Warkworth, and is reached via SH1 and the Puhoi to Warkworth motorway. The area has wineries, a village with cafes and shops, and coastal scenery nearby. It is a longer drive, so the travel itself uses more of your hire time. If you want several stops in Matakana, a longer day may suit better, and longer days are quoted on request.

Opening hours, tasting arrangements and booking rules vary between wineries and change from time to time. Check them with each winery yourself before you finalise the plan.

Why not Waiheke?

Waiheke Island is in the Hauraki Gulf and is reached by ferry from downtown Auckland. A limo cannot drive there. If Waiheke is your goal, a limo can still take your group to the ferry, but the tour on the island itself needs other arrangements.

Why take a limo on a wine tour?

The main reason is simple: nobody has to be the designated driver. Your chauffeur handles the motorway, the country roads and the parking, and the whole group gets to enjoy each stop. Other reasons groups choose a limo:

  • Everyone travels together: one car for up to 10, or both limos for up to 20.
  • Comfort between stops: side seating, climate control and lighting in both cars.
  • No splitting into cars: nobody gets lost on the way to the next winery.

Both limos have a bar. Whether alcohol can be carried or consumed in the vehicle is something to confirm first, so ask about this in the notes of your quote request.

How to plan a wine tour day

  1. Choose one area. Mixing Kumeu and Matakana in one day means a lot of time on the road.
  2. Pick two or three wineries rather than five.
  3. Book lunch and any tastings directly with each venue.
  4. Decide on one or two pickup points in the city for the group.
  5. Write a simple run sheet with times and addresses, and share it with your chauffeur.
  6. Leave some slack in the timing for long lunches, photos and the drive back into the city.

How long should a wine tour be?

The sightseeing tour package starts from $1,000 for 4 hours, which usually suits a West Auckland tour with a couple of stops. Matakana or a fuller day will likely need more time, and the quote will reflect the hours you ask for. Tell us the wineries, the pickup points and how long you want to spend at each one.
